It was not to confuse us or to make us doubt the word, it was just because it was known by our God, that that would make the BOM too long and cumbersome because 510 pages was long enuf and noone would read it if it were longer without falling asleep for sure. And coupled with the bible, which is much longer, and hardly ever read from cover to cover and the D&C it would be WAY to heavy to carry to church each sunday and thus give all mormons perpetual back-aches, which would then mean more blessings for healing and that would mean god would be too busy healing mormon backaches and thus not be able to walk and talkt to his current prophet, even thomas s monson nor his predessessor, gordon hinkley.

So, i thank you, Insana D. for as you surely found out as you tried in your imperfect way to write scripture, that joseph smith was the correct translator of the plates of gold because he knew how to keep the text simple and short.Karinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17182813079850508907noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-753591549042633617.post-29291671637013112772011-09-12T11:45:49.457-05:002011-09-12T11:45:49.457-05:00Dear President,
As usual, your inspired comments ...Dear President,

As usual, your inspired comments have given me so much to think about.

A little while ago, a friend of mine (I'm sure you know who) left the church. I tried to extend the hand of fellowship and met her in a cafe in town for a hot chocolate. She told me that she had discovered some terrible things about the prophet Joseph. I immediately had a dark feeling inside, which was followed by a stupor of thought when she went on to say outrageous things about the character of our beloved prophet. She told me that she'd read some of these dreadful things on so-called "apologetic" websites.

I won't tell you what she accused Joseph of doing (you really wouldn't believe it, President) but I set her straight. I told her to reread the Joseph Smith manual: everything about the prophet's life is in that book. She disagreed with me, bringing the spirit of contention to our discussion. She told me to read these so-called "apologist" sites myself.

President, for a moment I was tempted. And then I remembered this Ensign article:

http://lds.org/new-era/2007/07/qa-questions-and-answers?lang=eng&query=anti-mormon+literature

'If the misrepresentations in anti-mormon literature really disturb you, tell your friend how you feel so that he'll leave you alone about it. Tell him you'd rather read something you trust, like the scriptures or Church publications.'

I was truly disturbed. So I told my friend that I would not read "apologist" lies. I went home and read the Joseph Smith manual, and I felt calm and happy. I know that Joseph Smith did not have sexual relations with anyone except his lawful wife, even Emma Smith. I know he was a prophet of God. And I know that so-called "apologist" sites are run by anti-mormon wolves in sheep's clothing.

As far as I am concerned, the apologists should apologise!

Thank you President for your wise words.Sister Abbotnoreply@blogger.com
