American July 4th Celebrations to be Cancelled

In America July the 4th is the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. This independence, won from shedding the blood of the British was prophesied hundreds of years before Christ in the Book of Mormon.

In 1 Nephi 13 Nephi states:
12 And I looked and beheld a man among the Gentiles (Columbus), who was separated from the seed of my brethren (the native Indians) by the many waters; and I beheld the Spirit of God, that it came down and wrought upon the man; and he went forth upon the many waters, even unto the seed of my brethren, who were in the promised land.

16 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld that the Gentiles who had gone forth out of captivity (The British and other Europeans) did humble themselves before the Lord; and the power of the Lord was with them.

17 And I beheld that their mother Gentiles (The British) were gathered together upon the waters, and upon the land also, to battle against them.

18 And I beheld that the power of God was with them (the colonies), and also that the wrath of God was upon all those that were gathered together against them to battle.

19 And I, Nephi, beheld that the Gentiles that had gone out of captivity were delivered by the power of God out of the hands of all other nations.

Now I will humbly and freely admit here that Britain was defeated by the colonies and that this happened in order for the Book of Mormon and the true gospel to come forth in these the latter days. But what I don't see here is an invitation to blatantly mock the British every year with American flags, fireworks and other preposterous celebrations. This is an absolute disgrace and can no longer be tolerated in this day and age of equal rights and respect for others backgrounds and nationalities.

Do you think President Obama would allow such atrocities if world history had been different and Americans were celebrating independence from Kenya? No. Such a thing would not be tolerated. It would be seen as a racist anti-Kenyan disrespectful celebration and would be banned.  I am completely outraged and have written to Presidents Monson and Obama suggesting that Americans follow the lead of Canada who are quietly celebrating Canada day this day, yea even July the 1st, all the while still enjoying the righteous influence of the monarchy. The Queens beautiful head is still found on their money and it is they who are currently being visited by the royal couple Will and Kate not the US. And if that doesn't cause Americans to pause and think about what they are doing I honestly don't know what will.

The President

I feel humbly blessed that I was born to goodly parents in America, land of the Nephites and Joseph Smith. I'm sorry that you were not more righteous in the Pre-existence to have been as fortunate as I. My family will have a truly American Family Home Evening this Monday. Just you wait until July 24th. The 4th will pale in comparison to Pioneer Day. Just trying to follow the prophet, even Thomas S Monson.

Jealous much Prez? The American's get to blow things up and have BBQ's while St. George's day is just an ordinary day.

You'd think you'd at least get to fight a dragon or something.

I understand that the LDS Clergy is unpaid and non-professional but must you be uneducated as well? Where is the apostrophe in your heading? It should read "Stake President's Blog".

"The Book of Mormon is the most perfect book on earth": Joseph Smith. You must do your best to rise to that same standard!

Wait! I see it now. It got wrongly placed down there in Anonymous 78's post: "The American[']s get to blow things up . . ."

The British are prim and proper, Canadians are kind and polite and American's are patriotic. We can't help it if we are a bit arrogant at times.

I think the President probably prefers Guy Fawkes day.

I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free to discriminate against others and celebrate the religious freedom I have to give up my ability to think for myself and, "Follow the Prophet...follow the Prophet...follow the Prophet...he knows the waaaaaaaaaaay!"

Watch out Prez, the grammar police are far worse than any discrimination you'll see on the 4th.

My ward is having a BBQ, would you like to come?

Totally agree pres.
While we are on the subject Trafalgar Square ought to be bulldozed.
Oh, and when our French Brethren and Sistren get of the train when they arrive in the UK, they are greeted by a Train Station named after a their defeat by the Brits. Waterloo Station is insulting and should be bulldozed.

I agree with you, President! We don't celebrate our independence here in the U.S. any longer. Instead, we prefer to celebrate the U.S. empire, the military, and the destruction of foreign lands, peoples, and cultures.

Those of you who still believe that the United States is a "free and independent" nation are deluded. What you're living in is an elective dictatorship, and a banana republic.

Americans are overly sensitive about their country b/c they believe it was created by god to save the world from unbelievers and people of color.

Not all Canadians are in love with their foreign Head of State. I am sure Will and Kate are a very nice newlywed couple, but spending millions so they can visit? As for EIIR when she passes and you dead dunk her, that is it, that is all for monarchy in Canada. I do no want her goofy adulterous immediate heir defacing my currency thanks.

President Paternoster, I am an American and I KNOW that America is the greatest country in the world. Why else would Jesus have visited here? It doesn't matter that I've never been to another country and avoid any literature about things my country has done wrong. It doesn't matter that I won't even consider the thought that other countries might be okay too. I KNOW that America is the greatest country in the world.

One of my liberal friends who hates America and democracy and freedom told me that the above statement explained "a lot about why I was a Mormon." I don't understand what he meant. Was he speaking for Satan and trying to make me doubt my testimonkey?

President,
I know it must be difficult for you to have not been valiant enough in the pre-existence to have been born in the USA.
While you may have not been a fence sitter like our black brothers and sisters you were obviously not one of Christ's valiant soldiers or you would have been born to a family here in Utah like me. Oh how joyous it would have been to have had you here with us in Davis county. We could have partaken of KFC, jello and 7up spiked punch as we celebrated our victory over Satan's minions in red coats.
Please do not disparage us for we truly are Christ's chosen people.

I would just like to add that it is difficult for me to understand how anyone can read the Book of Mormon and read the true revelations contained therein and not be instantly converted to the truth.
What better evidence could you need that this book was not a product of the 19th century than a clear prophecy of Christopher Columbus and the revolution?

Sister Fister,

I couldn't agree more. None other than the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, when in Australia, performed "America, the Greatest and Best." No truer words were spoken by the Lord's choir. I still have this CD in my collection, and it is one of my favorites.

You've got to be kidding me Kory. That just makes me sick.
United Statesens, or USAs or the bottom end of North Americans (NOT American, American is so much more than just the USA) only have the honour of being from the most arrogant country there is. Chosen people my a**!

America, America, God shed His grace on thee... President Paternoster, the United States of America is a land blessed to be the land of the free and the home of Joseph Smith who was born here! That certainly makes this land most sacred indeed. After all, neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus -- nay, no man ever did such a work such as Joseph Smith, born here on sacred holy American soil.

Personally, I think the best scenario would be if the non-member citizens here could move somewhere else (they don't have to completely leave this hemisphere... I know Canada has a LOT of unoccupied landmass, and Mexico is used to crowded situations) and then America could truly crown its good with brotherhood in a spirit of pure righteousness and white delightsomeness. Our entire land could then become The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of America... *sigh* ...wow!

Perhaps another good idea would be to REname the 4th of July, commonly known as Independence Day, to Joseph Smith Day!

President, another thing you must always keep in mind, is that this nation, even the United States of America, was not just blessed and consecrated for bringing forth the restoration of the true priesthood, but was also chosen as the literal garden of eden.
Truly the man Adam and his help meet Eve walked these sacred grounds in and around Kansas City.
You should really plan a trip so you can walk the ground that Adam walked. To this very day there is still a rock alter built by the man Adam. It was positively identified as such by the Prophet Joseph.

Surely you can see why God has chosen these United States as a land above all other lands? And it's inhabitants as his chosen people?

Personally, I don't celebrate the 4th of July. The real holiday is the 24th of July, when the righteous celebrate the entry of President Young into Zion.

Those choicest spirits of our heavenly father are not just American, not just Utahn, but those that live within the hallowed grounds of the Wasatch front.

Remember, remember the 5th of November, the gunpowder treason and plot.

I know of no reason the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.

The assessment that I prefer bonfire night is accurate. In my town this event not only marks the date of the uncovering of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605, but also commemorates the memory of the seventeen Protestant martyrs burnt at the stake. The celebrations involve burning an effigy of the Pope (or whoever else we feel inclined to burn) and are the largest and most famous Bonfire Night celebrations in the whole country.

Now with a little research you will know precisely which town in England I am from.

anonymous78 said...

Who do you prefer to burn in effigy Prez?

Stake Pres. said...

Oh I don't. I'm just a spectator - it's the different bonfire societies in my town that arrange it all. It really is something to see though!

anonymous78 said...

Please post photos next time it rolls around. It is good to hear Brits like to burn things too.

Me from Cali said...

LOL! No wonder the British lost. Oooo... a 'bonfire'. And burning an effigy... double 'Ooooo".

Hey, Prez if you want to see the 'real thing' come to Nevada's 'Burning Man' and see how it's really done and see why the Americans whopped the "prim and proper" Brits.

'Bonfire' -- ROTFL!!!!!

Stake Pres. said...

It's not just a bonfire. It's called bonfire night/Guy Fawkes but there are processions, bonfires, effigy burning, burning of crosses, tons of firework displays and unlike burningman no tickets are required - it's free!

Brits have always been good at burning stuff... didn't they burn down the white house in 1814?

Stake Pres. said...

Shhhhhhhh Sister Marsh (I have heard that Americans don't talk about that in school. Keep it between us).

Celebrating Independence day now is a mockery & in short time will show this to be the case.

The downing of amerika is at large & runaway rogue goverments laugh & mock.

But be on alert, amerika is not the one & only... This is worldwide.
